Nestled in the vibrant heart of San Mateo, Sama Coffee Shop offers a uniquely captivating coffee experience that seamlessly blends tradition with contemporary flair. This charming coffee haven at 800 S B St #500 is much more than your average café—it invites you into a cozy, tranquil retreat where each sip tells a story.
Sama Coffee Shop specializes in a diverse and intriguing menu, spotlighting distinctive beverages that are both imaginative and steeped in cultural heritage. Their signature Turkish Coffee Made on Hot Sand delivers a rich, aromatic intensity, brewed using an age-old technique that enhances the coffee’s depth and flavor complexity. Another must-try is the Rose Cardamom Honey Latte, a beautifully balanced concoction that enfolds your palate with floral sweetness and warm spice, while their Blueberry Latte offers a playful fruitiness that surprises and delights.
Beyond coffee, Sama’s beverage offerings shine with refreshing mocktails like the Mango Mint Mojito and Sunrise Mocktail, perfect for those seeking vibrant layers of flavor without the caffeine. For those with a sweeter tooth, the Dubai Chocolate Cake and Gâteau provide indulgent, melt-in-your-mouth moments that perfectly complement the rich brews.
The café’s ambiance is consistently praised for its calm and inviting atmosphere. Customers like Amanjot Singh cherish the cozy window seats, ideal for savoring a cup while soaking in the lively street view or digging into their beloved pistachio treats again and again. Similarly, Heba Farag highlights the warm, relaxed vibe paired with cheerful, attentive staff who strike the perfect balance between welcoming and unobtrusive. The quiet environment, noted by Gurwant Khabra, makes Sama an excellent spot for focused laptop work or peaceful contemplation.
What truly sets Sama apart is its attention to authenticity paired with modern creativity. As AV C points out, the Turkish coffee and cappuccino hit their marks, and desserts like the rose milk cake stand out for their natural, delicate flavors rather than artificial sweetness. Eli Urena captures the essence perfectly—a place where incredible food and drinks like the Gold Digger coffee blend with a soothing ambiance to create a memorable respite from the everyday.
Though some practicalities like the absence of restroom facilities exist, they barely diminish the overall experience at Sama Coffee Shop. The thoughtful design and warm, genuine service echo throughout each visit, making this café a hidden gem in San Mateo for locals and visitors alike.
Whether you're seeking a quiet nook to work, a cozy corner to unwind, or simply a captivating new flavor journey, Sama Coffee Shop invites you to discover the extraordinary in every cup and bite.

Extremely cute cafe in the heart of san mateo. Loved the pistachio came there. Can have it any number of times. The coffee was pretty good as well. I loved the seats by the window.
I’d give it a 4.5 stars. The atmosphere was really nice, quiet and comfy. The Turkish coffee and cappuccino were pretty good. Tried the rose milk cake, pistachio kadyif (I think that’s how it’s called) and chocolate “croissant”. They were all good, just not exceptional (yet). Plus points for the rose milk cake for actually tasting natural (it’s always a gamble).
Came here for brunch on a Sunday with a friend and had such a great experience! The staff were super friendly and cheerful — welcoming without being overbearing. The vibe was relaxed with great music in the background. The chai and baklava were delicious, but the real star was the cheese-filled pastry — absolutely heavenly. Perfectly warm, flaky, and satisfying. Found plenty of street parking with lots of shade. Definitely a cozy spot worth visiting in San Mateo. I’ll be back!
The food is incredible, and the coffee “Gold Digger” was simply delicious. The cozy ambiance and relaxing vibe make it a great place to unwind.
Really sweet cashier and delicious Rose cardamom honey latte. $8 and my friend got the Turkish coffee with anise. Solid place No toilet but everything else was great. Beautiful exterior design. No music in the cafe and nice quiet place for laptop work.
A beautiful little café with a warm, peaceful atmosphere. Arabic-style tea served in golden pots, delicate cups, and the aroma of spices in the air. They have Turkish delights and baklava — everything feels made with heart.
